Privacy Policy

WhichFilterFits (whichfilterfits.com) is a small informational website run by Janackeh Blackwell, an individual based in the United States ("we," "us"). This page explains, in plain language, what information is involved when you use the site.

The short version

  • There are no accounts, sign-ups, comment boxes or forms.
  • We don't run analytics, advertising trackers or social-media widgets, and our pages don't set cookies.
  • Our web host, Cloudflare, processes basic technical data (such as IP addresses) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
  • If you click through to a store, that store, and any affiliate network involved, may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
  • If you email us, we'll see your email address and whatever you choose to write.

Information we collect

Things you type into the site. The filter finder on the home page runs entirely in your browser. What you type into it (model numbers, part numbers, sizes) isn't sent to us or stored.

Analytics and cookies. As of the date above, the site uses no analytics service, no advertising or tracking scripts, and no cookies of its own. Pages load only files from our own domain, with no third-party fonts, scripts or embeds. (Wherever our email address appears, Cloudflare adds a small email-protection script, served from our domain, that hides the address from spam bots. It sets no cookies.) Cloudflare's hosting can add its own Web Analytics script to pages. Our site's security settings block that script, so it doesn't load or collect anything. If that changes, we'll update this policy first and name the service.

Email. If you write to contact@whichfilterfits.com, we receive your email address, your message, and anything you attach. Mail to that address is forwarded to a personal inbox through Cloudflare Email Routing. We use your message only to reply and to fix or add content. We don't add you to a mailing list or sell or share your address.

Hosting and server logs

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare also provides our DNS and email forwarding. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical information about your request so it can deliver the page and protect the site. Cloudflare says this can include IP addresses, traffic routing data, system configuration information and other information about traffic to and from the site. Cloudflare also sends standard network-error-reporting headers, which let your browser report connection failures to Cloudflare.

We don't use these logs to identify individual visitors. We may look at aggregate information Cloudflare shows us, such as total requests or error rates, to keep the site running. How Cloudflare handles this data is covered by the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Outbound links and affiliate links

Our guides link to manufacturers, retailers and documents, such as owner's manuals and spec sheets. When you click one, you leave our site, and the other site's privacy policy and cookies apply.

Affiliate links. As of the date above, WhichFilterFits hasn't joined any affiliate program, and none of our links carry affiliate tracking. We plan to apply to programs such as Amazon Associates and to programs run through affiliate networks such as Impact. Once a program approves us, some links to that store will become affiliate links. When you click one:

  • The store or the affiliate network (for example, Amazon or Impact) may set cookies or use similar technology in your browser. This records that you came from our site, so a purchase can be credited to us.
  • Those cookies are set by the store or network on its own website, not by our pages, and that company's privacy policy governs them.
  • We may later see reports from the program, such as numbers of clicks or orders and commission amounts. We don't receive your name, address or payment details.

You can block or delete these cookies in your browser settings without affecting how our site works. We'll label affiliate links and keep our affiliate disclosure current.

Amazon Associates (forthcoming). If Amazon approves us, this page and our affiliate disclosure will include Amazon's required statement: "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases." We aren't an Amazon Associate yet, so the statement doesn't apply today.

Who we share information with

We don't sell, rent or trade personal information. The only third parties involved in running the site are:

  • Cloudflare, for hosting, DNS, security and email forwarding, as described above.
  • The email provider that receives our forwarded mail, for messages you send us.
  • Affiliate programs and networks, only after we join them and only through cookies they set when you click their links, as described above.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

Children

WhichFilterFits is written for adults maintaining home appliances. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has emailed us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Keeping and deleting information

We keep emails only as long as we need them to reply or to track a correction. To have your correspondence deleted, email contact@whichfilterfits.com.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page if anything changes, such as adding analytics or joining an affiliate program, and change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will appear here before they take effect.
