Everydrop Filter 1 (EDR1RXD1): Part Numbers, Fit, and Cheaper Alternatives

Last checked 2026-10-24 NSF database check: pending 6 sources

Quick answer

EDR1RXD1 is everydrop's purple "Filter 1" for Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, KitchenAid and JennAir fridges. [S1] Whirlpool's data sheet treats EDR1RXD1B, EDR1RXD1R, WHR1RXD1 and KAD1RXD1 as the same replacement filter, and PartSelect lists it as the replacement for W10295370A. [S2] [S3]

  • Rated for 200 gallons. Replace it at least every 6 months. [S2]
  • Whirlpool says it's tested and certified by NSF against NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401. [S2] We haven't confirmed that in NSF's database yet.
  • Check your filter style first. The WRS325SDHZ manual says some units take EDR1RXD1 (Style 1) and others EDR2RXD1 (Style 2). [S4]
  • The cheaper Waterdrop replacement we checked only claims NSF/ANSI 42 and 372. Neither is a lead-reduction certification. [S6]

Part numbers that are the same filter

If your old filter shows any of these numbers, look at the replacement listed in the right column.

Certified alternatives

Generic Filter 1 replacements cost less, but "NSF certified" on a listing can mean very different things. Here's what we found, and whether we've confirmed it with NSF.

FilterWhat the seller claimsOur NSF check
everydrop EDR1RXD1 (genuine)Tested and certified by NSF against NSF/ANSI 42, 53, 401 and CSA B483.1; lead reduction >99.7% in the data sheet [S2]Pending: NSF site unreachable 2026-10-24
Waterdrop WD-F38 / EFF-6038S1 ("Replacement for Everydrop Filter 1")Certified to NSF/ANSI 42 (chlorine, taste, odor) and 372 (lead-free materials). Spec table says "NSF 42" only. [S6] Lead reduction falls under NSF/ANSI 53, which this page doesn't claim. [S4] [S6]Not checked yet. Note the page lists both 200-gallon and 300-gallon capacity. [S6]

Where Filter 1 goes and how to change it

Whirlpool says Filter 1 sits behind a cover in the upper right corner inside the fridge or in the base grille at the bottom. [S5] The short version of Whirlpool's steps:

  1. Lift the filter door and pull the old filter out.
  2. Take the protective covers off the new filter's O-rings, and make sure the O-rings stay in place.
  3. Slide it in with the arrow pointing up. If it won't go in easily, turn it until the notches line up. Don't force it.
  4. Snap the door shut, run four gallons of water through to flush it, then reset the filter light. [S5]

Why "same size" doesn't mean "same filter"

Even one model line, the WRS325SDHZ, can take Filter 1 or Filter 2 depending on its filtration system style. [S4] The safest match is the part number printed on the filter you're taking out.

The certification fine print

Three different NSF/ANSI standards come up on Filter 1 listings:

  • NSF/ANSI 42 covers chlorine taste and odor, and particulates. [S4]
  • NSF/ANSI 53 covers health-related contaminants, including lead, cysts and asbestos. [S4]
  • NSF/ANSI 401 covers "emerging compounds" such as some pharmaceuticals. [S2]

Whirlpool claims all three for EDR1RXD1. [S2] The Waterdrop replacement we checked claims NSF/ANSI 42 plus 372, and the page describes 372 as lead-free housing materials. [S6] That isn't the same as reducing lead in your water.

FAQ

Is W10295370A the same as EDR1RXD1?

Yes, for practical purposes. PartSelect lists W10295370A and W10295370 among the part numbers EDR1RXD1 replaces. [S3]

Are EDR1RXD1 and EDR1RXD1B the same filter?

Whirlpool's Filter 1 performance data sheet lists EDR1RXD1, EDR1RXD1B, WHR1RXD1, KAD1RXD1 and EDR1RXD1R as replacement filters for the same system. [S2]

Does a Whirlpool WRS325SDHZ use EDR1RXD1?

It depends on the filter style. The WRS325SDHZ owner's manual says Style 1 systems take EDR1RXD1 and Style 2 systems take EDR2RXD1. [S4] Match the number on your old filter.

How often should I change the EDR1RXD1?

Whirlpool's data sheet says to change the cartridge at least every 6 months. It's rated for 200 gallons. [S2]

Are cheap Filter 1 replacements NSF certified?

Some claim it, but check which standard. The Waterdrop Filter 1 replacement we checked claims NSF/ANSI 42 and 372. It doesn't claim NSF/ANSI 53, the standard that covers lead reduction. [S4] [S6]

What we could not verify

  • NSF database confirmation for EDR1RXD1 or any alternative (info.nsf.org returned errors on 2026-10-24). We'll update this page when we can confirm them.
  • A complete model list. Everydrop's filter finder didn't return results to our checker, so the list above is partial.
  • How to tell Style 1 from Style 2 on a WRS325SDHZ. The manual we read only names the two part numbers. Read the number on your old filter.
  • The WRS325SDHZ manual copy we read has an older data sheet (system P5WB2L/P4RFWB, NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 only). [S4] Current certification claims come from everydrop's 2024 data sheet. [S2]
